The opening reception for my next photo exhibit is just 10 days away… and also happens to fall on the first night of a long weekend! I hope you can come check out my photo collective’s latest group exhibit. We will be exploring the notion of fragmentation in this exhibition, and I’m super excited about my photo series finally seeing the light of day at the art gallery. Printing is almost done, mounting & hanging at the gallery happens next week, followed by opening night on Thursday April 21 at 7pm. You should come!

It’s at the cre8ery gallery and you’ll be able to enjoy some wine and cheese while you check out some local photographic art.

My Made in China photos series is now up at the St. Boniface College’s art gallery. After hours and hours of framing yesterday and a couple more hours of hanging the frames this morning, the photos are now on display at La Galerie. A big thanks to my friend Melissa Finch for helping me set up the show! If you’re interested in checking out the exhibit, you can read more about my series, how I made it, what inspired me, and where you can go to see these photos. More info over at my other blog!

This week I am officially back at work after taking a couple months off for the birth of my daughter… and what better way to start work again than by preparing for a solo photo exhibit! I don’t often get the chance to do solo exhibits because I’m so busy working on group exhibits with my art collective, so when I was asked to put up some work at a gallery, I jumped on the occasion. I’ll be showing a photo series that I already exhibited at the Cre8ery last year, but this time, in a slightly different format. I’ll be displaying all 12 images individually and all in the same size, this time as 8×10 prints in 11×14 frames. The series will be showcased in French (Mes vêtements, fabriqués en Chine) at the Collège Universitaire de St-Boniface‘s art gallery (La galerie).

I’m almost done the prepping… the only thing left is to frame the prints (which always takes longer than you expect… all you artists out there know what I’m talking about!!) and setting up the work at the gallery later this week. The pieces will be for sale and if you’re interested in seeing the photo exhibit, swing by the St. Boniface College. It’ll be on display for the entire month of March. You can drop by anytime – just enter by the doors on Aulneau Street (the ones by the Louis Riel statue), and take an immediate left as you enter the Collège, and the gallery is right there.

For more info on my series, check out my blog post from last year: My Wardrobe, Made in China

My frames, ready to be filled with colourful photos. I brought this crate back from IKEA after a trip to Minneapolis a few months ago. I loooooove IKEA frames.

Welcome to my new blog! I’ve created it to keep all of you posted on my latest art projects, as well as any gallery exhibits and shows around Winnipeg that will be showcasing my work.

Right now, I’m deep in the middle of working on my latest photo exhibit with my art collective f/action. We’ve been working on this group photography exhibit since last summer, and soon the labour of our creative work will be displayed at the cre8ery gallery! Our show is titled an instance of some kind and will showcase our collective’s artwork based on the theme fragments. I focused my project on alternative portraits, something with which I had a lot of fun photographing this past fall. I have a few people who volunteered to be a part of the project (including my friend Rebecca Croft, featured in the photo above), and I’m super excited about how the photos turned out.

Now, all that’s left to do is printing/framing/mounting and setting up at the gallery! Here’s the info… don’t forget to mark your calendars!
